Preparing for Your First Mediumship Reading: The Complete Guide

Preparing for Your First Mediumship Reading: The Complete Guide

You have booked your first reading, or you are seriously thinking about it. And a question settles in: do you need to prepare? Bring something? Know what to say? Many people arrive at their first appointment afraid of “doing it wrong,” as if there were a correct way to show up.

There isn't one. A mediumship reading requires no skill, no ritual and no particular belief. On the other hand, a few very simple preparations make a big difference to the quality of what you take away. Here they are.

What you do not need to do

Let us start with some relief. You do not need to prepare a list of proofs to ask for, nor to test anything. You do not have to fast, meditate for three days, or bring an object that belonged to a loved one who has passed.

Nor do you have to hide your doubts. You can arrive skeptical, shaken, eager to understand or simply curious: none of this prevents a reading from being accurate and useful. Doubt is not an obstacle; it is often the sign of a clear-minded person.

Choosing the right moment in your day

This is the most useful preparation of all, and the most neglected. A mediumship reading stirs emotion. Booking a slot squeezed between two meetings, or thirty minutes before picking up the children, means denying yourself the chance to benefit from it.

Plan a before and an after

Ideally, keep thirty minutes clear before the appointment and an hour after. The before helps you settle; the after lets things sink in. Many people say that the real insight comes in the hours that follow, when a sentence heard during the reading suddenly takes on its full meaning.

A place where you will not be interrupted

Readings take place by WhatsApp video or by phone, or in the private office in Andorra for those who wish to travel. Remotely, settle somewhere no one will come in: a closed room, a parked car, an empty office. A headset or earphones are recommended; they make the exchange more intimate and clearer.

Prepare your questions, not your script

Writing your questions in advance is an excellent reflex. Not to run through a questionnaire, but because emotion makes us forget the essentials: it is common to hang up and realize you never asked the question that prompted the appointment.

Distinguish what weighs on you from what intrigues you

Write down three to five subjects, ranked by their real importance. A subject that keeps you up at night comes before a curiosity. If time runs short, you will have covered what matters.

Phrase things broadly rather than narrowly

“Where do I stand in this relationship?” opens far more than “Will he come back in March?” An open question leaves room for what needs to be said, including what you had not anticipated — and that is often where the most precious insight lies.

Choosing the right format for a first time

For a first reading, there are two paths, and they are not equivalent depending on your need.

If you have a specific subject and would like a considered answer to read and reread, Written Guidance is an excellent way in: you describe your situation and receive a document that you can take all the time you need to absorb.

If you are carrying several subjects at once, or a grief, a live exchange is better suited. Private readings come in several lengths: fifteen minutes for a single area, thirty minutes or an hour when several parts of your life are involved. A first time rarely goes well in a rush: if you are unsure, choose the next length up.

Anticipating emotion, without fearing it

Sometimes people cry. Sometimes they laugh, are surprised by a tiny detail, or fall silent for a few seconds. All of this is normal and never interrupts a reading.

For twenty-five years, in forty-seven countries, Nicolas-David Paris® has received people rebuilding their lives as well as people simply searching for answers. Nothing you feel will be a first for him. You do not have to sit up straight or stay in control.

Have something to take notes with

A notebook, a sheet of paper, a note on your phone. A reading sometimes contains a first name, a date, an image whose significance only becomes clear later. What is written down is not lost.

After the reading: let time do its part

Make no major decision in the hour that follows. Not because the insight would be fragile, but because a decision is best made with a clear head. Reread your notes the next day, then a week later: that is generally when the coherence appears.

Many people describe this journey in the testimonials : what seemed blurry in the moment becomes crystal clear a few days later.

The practical questions everyone asks

Do I need to provide information in advance?

Only what is requested at the time of booking. You have nothing to justify or detail in writing before the exchange.

What if I freeze and no longer know what to say?

It is not up to you to lead the reading. A silence is simply a silence; there is nothing to fill.

Can I consult on behalf of someone else?

The reading is about you. You can mention a loved one, but insight is given to the person present, not to someone absent.

Other concrete answers — how it unfolds, arrangements, lead times — are gathered in the FAQ.

Booking under the right conditions

One last point of preparation, purely logistical: Nicolas-David Paris®'s calendar is announced as fully booked until December 2026, with a limited number of priority access slots. A first reading therefore also needs planning ahead: it is better to book the slot that truly suits you than to wait until the need becomes urgent.
